Adam Hoppel - Class of 2004
He was a member of 2 Undefeated Football Teams and played 3 seasons making the State Playoffs. Adams football accolades include: 2001 Quad County All Star 1st Team, All Eastern District 1st Team, Columbiana Co All Star 1st Team and All Ohio Special Mention; 2002 All Review Defensive Player of the Year, 1st Team Quad Co All Star, OVAC All Conference 1st Team, Columbiana Co All Star 1st Team; 2003 All Ohio 2nd Team, Quad Co All Star 1st Team, All Eastern District 1st Team, Columbiana Co All Star 1st Team and East District Defensive Player of the Year. In 2004, he was named the Penn-Ohio All Star Football Team Most Valuable Player.
Adam was an exceptional standout in Wrestling as a 4 time OHSAA State Qualifier, a State Champion, 4 time Sectional Champion and 3 time District Champion. He is the only 4 time EOWL Champion being named Most Valuable Wrestler at the event twice. Adam is a 4 time OVAC Champion earning the recognition of the 4th wrestler to do so in 51 years of the tournament and was recognized as OVAC Most Valuable Wrestler as a Senior. In 26 years of the BL Everett Hoppel Memorial Tourney, Adam become the 2nd wrestler to earn 4 Championship titles and was named Most Valuable Wrestler in 2003. He has multiple recognitions from the Eastern District, OVAC, area newspapers and holds a school record of Most Career Wins at 154.
Adam graduated from the University of Cincinnati and was an important part of the Bearcat football teams success. After playing briefly with the Cleveland Browns football team, Adam put his education to work and has started his own consulting business currently residing in Lisbon, Ohio He has been instrumental in helping non-profits and many other organizations in getting their business off the ground.
He is the son of Carl and Patty Hoppel of West Point, Ohio.
Erin Reeder Gallagher - Class of 2001
She was a four year starter for the Lady Beavers Hoops under Coach Fred Brickner and was among the statistical leaders in every category her senior season.
In 2001, Erin was selected to the 1st Team Columbiana County Coaches Association as well as 2nd Team District 5 and Eastern District AP. In 1999-2000, she was named All Ohio Div. II Honorable Mention. She was selected to the Review All Area Team and Who’s Who Among American High School Students.
A dedicated 3 sport athlete, Erin was competitive, hard working, personable and willing to do whatever is took to improve her athletic skills. She was well liked by her teachers and peers and was active in French Club, Varsity B and AAU Basketball.
Erin graduated Cum Laude from YSU with BA in Geography. She moved with husband Brendan to San Antonio TX, Seattle WA, Manhattan KS while he was serving in the US Army. They moved to Cleveland OH and then to Johnstown PA where she is currently a GMfor Best Buy.
Erin is actively looking to move back to her home town with her family and hopes their 5 year old son Cormac can attend Beaver Local. She is the daughter of Rhonda and Burrell Reeder.
Dean Horger - Class of 1972
Basketball- A point guard, Dean was the first athlete to earn a varsity letter in basketball as a freshman. He led the team in assists his junior and senior year. His senior year produced First Team Honors in the Buckeye Border Conference as well as All Area and All Columbiana County. He was named MVP, Co-Captain and Best Offensive Player averaging 15 points per game, which included a thirty point performance against Crestview. The team went 11-9 and was the first in school history to win a tournament game.
Baseball- Dean was a 4 year starter, three years as a shortstop. He won the Captains Award his junior year. As Co-captain his senior year he earned First Team Buckeye Border Conference honors.
Football- Dean played just one season, his junior year. He split time between quarterback, split end and defensive back. He was awarded the team’s Best Defensive Back Award.
Dean continued his success at Baldwin-Wallace University (Division III) in Berea, Ohio, where he was a 4-year starter at third base. As a sophomore he was named All-District 12 second team and led the team with a .352 batting average. As a senior he set B-W single-season records for home runs, RBIs, doubles and runs scored. The home run record (9) was also the Ohio Athletic Conference standard for several seasons and lasted for 25 years as the B-W record. He was the first college player to hit a home run at Cleveland’s Municipal Stadium and was named first-team All-OAC as a senior. Dean also lettered in basketball as a sophomore before turning his full attention to baseball. He was inducted into the Baldwin-Wallace Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011.
Sarah Pilarcik Lowe - Class of 2000

Basketball: 2000 Associated Press Eastern District, Special Mention, 2nd team District 5
Softball: 1999 Columbiana County All Star 2nd team, 2000 OVAC 2nd team, Columbiana County 1st team
Sarah is the daughter of Joe and Claudia Pilarcik. Since graduation from Youngstown State University, she has returned to teach 8th grade Math & Science at BLMS; is currently the Varsity Volleyball Coach and coaches Middle School Girls Basketball. She and her husband, Eric, reside in East Liverpool and are active in their community and with youth organizations.
Jenny Rudibaugh Pancake - Class of 2004
Her Volleyball accolades include the kills award with 223, blocking award with 303 total blocks, passing award with 83% and the All-Everything Award. She was named to the District 1 Div. II First Team as well as the OVAC District I Senior All-Star Team and All Review First Team. Their team was the 2002 OVAC 4A Champions with a 17 –2 season record and the 2003 OVAC Runners-Up. During high school, Jenny was selected to compete in the Tourney Sport USA Volleyball competition in Oahu, Hawaii where her team finished 2nd overall. She also competed for several years in Junior Olympic volleyball travelling to multiple states and qualifying for the Junior Nationals in Texas as well as finishing 2nd in the Ohio Valley Region.
Jenny was also a part of the first swimming team at Beaver Local being voted most improved as a freshman.
After first attending Geneva College as a volleyball recruit, Jenny’s career was cut short due to a foot injury. She has since graduated with her bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education. She resides in Paris, Ohio with her husband Tim, and two children Kyla and Brody. She is the varsity Volleyball Coach at Alliance HS where she is also employed.
Jenny is the daughter of Larry and Tracy Rudibaugh.
Everett & Lee Hoppel - Special Category
Everett was a sports enthusiast but his impact spread beyond just influencing his sons. It was said that his enthusiasm was contagious as he was seen a s father figure, a confidante, a motivator and an inspiration. He attended matches for 25 years at the high schools and the state tournaments.
Lee also worked hard at developing the wrestling program by providing meals and giving her cheers of support to the teams. Whether it was at a dual meet or the state tournament, her voice could definitely be heard.
For 50 years, the legacy of Everett and Lee Hoppel has been felt in the Beaver Local wrestling program through their sons, grandsons and great-grandsons. Statistically speaking, 16 members of the family have wrestled for Beaver Local High School. There have been 8 state qualifiers and 6 state placers including 3 different state champions.
Everett and Lee are recognized posthumously and are represented by their five sons: Herman, Jim, Darryl, David and Carl.
