CLASS OF 2008
Dan Barber - Graduated 1989
On the wrestling mat, Dan was a 2-time Everett Hoppel Memorial Tournament champion. He had over 70 varsity wins and was a 2-time district qualifier and a sectional runner-up.
Dan was honored with the distinguished athlete award as well as the Hearld Star athlete of the year. He is a marketing representative for the Scott Electric Company. He and his wife, Beth, have two children: Joshua and Katie.
Jenny Carroll - Graduated 2002
Jenny went on to play softball at Marietta College where she set several individual records and was selected as the National Fast-pitch Coaches' Association scholar athlete three times. She is the only Marietta College softball player to be named to both the academic and athletic all-America teams.
Jenny has traveled extensively in Europe while a member of a traveling softball squad. She is currently an assistant softball coach at Heidelberg College where she is pursuing a master's degree in education.
John Croxall - Graduated 1978
He and his wife Linnie reside in Florida and have two children: Janea and Alison. John is regional controller and operation oversight with the Nextran Trucking Company.
Wayne King, Jr. - Graduated 1976
Wayne as brought notoriety to Beaver Local even after graduating; he received a scholarship to play baseball at Ohio University where he was a 4-year starting catcher and earned all conference honors. He was invited to attend spring training by the Seattle Mariner Organization.
Wayne currently serves as athletic director and head baseball coach at Joliet Junior College in Illinois where he is the winningest coach in their history and has 2 national junior college championships. He and his wife, Janine, have 2 children: Stacey and Kelsey.
Barbara Mathess - Special Category
She was voted Columbiana County volleyball coach-of-the-year and Evening Review coach-of-the-year in 1988 and in 1991; her team was the first OV AC volleyball champions from Beaver Local.
Barb has contributed to Beaver Local Athletics in many other ways over the years including being scorekeeper for basketball and wrestling, being an active member of the booster club, and holding office in the Beaver Local Athletic Hall of Fame from its inception until the present day.
Barb continued coaching even after her retirement from teaching in 2001 (after 32 years). She and her husband, Steve, have been married thirty-eight years and reside in Wellsville.
Mark Merriman - Graduated 1976
Mark started keeping stats in football and basketball in 1972, and has been doing radio and newspaper correspondence for football since then. This season will mark his 36th year as statistician for the football team. He and his wife, Dana, have one daughter, Amber. Mark is employed at the East Liverpool Elks Lodge and by M & M Vending.
Bob Tatgenhorst - Graduated 1980
Bob received a scholarship to West Liberty State College and served as an assistant football coach at Beaver Local from 1987-1992. He married his high school sweetheart, Rhonda Adkins, and they have three daughters: Stacey, Brittany and Sydney. Bob is the safety coordinator for V & M Star Steel Company in Youngstown.
Chris Winesburg - Graduated 2000
Chris graduated recently from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy and is currently serving with Pennsylvania State Police.
