Jim was named MVP in football, wrestling and track during his senior year. He totaled 1040 yards as a running back in football and was named to the all-county squad. As a wrestler, Jim was champion of his weight class of the North Highland, Louisville and Carrollton Tournaments and was the individual Sectional Champion in 1969.
Jim was also a member of Beaver Local’s first Sectional Championship team. He went on to qualify for the district tournament during his sophomore, junior and senior years. As a senior, his record was 26-1 as team captain. Jim was also a member of the track team where he set school records in four events and county records in two events. Jim is currently the owner/operator of West Point Masonry. He and his wife, Karen, have four children: Bobbie Jo, Danielle, Leigh Ann and Jimmy.
Bobbie Jo Bowersock - Graduated 1990
Bobbie Jo Bowersock was a volleyball and basketball player during all four years in high school, and a member of the track team during her freshman and sophomore years. She was named to both the Salem News and East Liverpool Review all-area volleyball teams as a junior and was chosen as the Review’s player of the year as a senior. As a basketball junior, Bobbie Jo was an honorable mention selection to the Division II Northeast Inland District Team as the county’s leading scorer that season and was selected to participate in the Columbiana County All-Star Game. Bobbie Jo was honored with the Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award, the Herald Star Athlete of the Year, the Dike Beede Scholarship, and was selected as an outstanding senior. Bobbie Jo is employed by Columbiana County.
Ryan Campbell - Graduated 1997
Ryan was one of the best baseball players to play for Beaver Local. As a freshman, he was a varsity starter and was the leading hitter (.446 average) and the co-MVP. He again won the batting title as a sophomore (.401) and accomplished a “three-peat” by winning it as a junior (.509). Following his junior season, he was named to the all-area team by the Evening Review. The Review also named Ryan “Player of the Year” following his senior season when he again won the batting title with an average of .543. Ryan was named to the River Valley League All-Star Team all four years of this career and was named to the OVAC All-Star Team twice. Ryan also lettered in basketball as a sophomore and a junior. He graduated from Indiana Tech with a degree in business management. He is currently employed by Morgan Wood Products in Columbus, Ohio.
Roy Cashdollar
Roy Cashdollar served as the first Beaver Local School District Superintendent (prior to that the chief operating officer was known as the Executive Head). Roy served as the middle school principal for two years and high school principal for a year prior to becoming superintendent. He served a total of 22 years at Beaver Local prior to his retirement. Roy also taught 10 years at Chester High School (Chester, W.Va.) before coming to Beaver Local. Roy was a ardent supporter of Beaver Local athletics during his time at Beaver Local. He attended countless athletic events and still attends many football and basketball games. Roy is a World War II veteran having served three years with the U.S. 8th Air Force in Europe. Roy is married to wife, Betty, and they have four children: Michael, Mark, Matt, and Melissa.
Rusty Davis - Graduated 1973
Rusty earned varsity letters in both track and football during his junior and senior years in high school. He served as captain of both the football team and track team as a senior. Rusty distinguished himself on the football team by setting an individual season interception record (7) in 1971. He was selected to the All-Columbiana County football team as a defensive back in 1971 and 1972. Rusty has continued his involvement in Beaver Local Athletics by serving as the 7th and 8th grade soccer coach. He is the terminal manager at the SH Bell Company in East Liverpool. He and his wife, Christy, have two children.
George “Butch” Gaydos - Graduated 1963
George “Butch” Gaydos is the owner/operator of Middle Beaver Auto Wrecking. Butch played four years of football, four years of basketball, and participated on the track team for four years while at Beaver Local High School. He received All-County recognition in football and track. He was second in the pole vault at the Columbiana County Track Meet. Butch is married to wife, Brenda, and they have three sons: Arin, Ian, and Eric.
Jeff Hall - Graduated 1967
Jeff is the son of Jesse and Ruby Hall. He has two children, a daughter, Lisa, and a son, Conner. Jeff is the owner of All-Sports Supplies in East Liverpool. Jeff excelled in all sports at Beaver Local. He lettered for three years in football and was named All-County, All-Conference, and MVP in his senior years. In basketball, he lettered two years and was All-Conference for two years. Baseball was where Jeff really excelled. He was a four-year letterman, and while pitching against Salem, he had 20 strikeouts in one game. He also received the Harry Greenwood Memorial Award his senior year. After high school, Jeff accepted a scholarship to play baseball at Kent State University, where he achieved great success. He was named to the All Mid-American Conference and was selected to the USA Japan College World Series played in Japan in 1972. After graduating from Kent State, Jeff signed as a free agent with the New York Yankees and played in their farm system from 1972 to 1975. He was inducted into the Greater Akron Hall of Fame in 1984.
Dustin Harris - Graduated 1994
Dustin distinguished himself as one of the finest wrestlers ever at Beaver Local. He set the school record for wins (137) during his career while losing only 20 matches. As a sophomore, Dustin took third place at the sectional tournament, and went on to win the district and qualify for the state tournament. As a junior, he was the OVAC Champion and MVP, and the Ohio State Champion in his weight class. During his senior campaign, he was again OVAC Champion and earned the prestigious Dave Beirkorette Award. He was chosen the Eastern Ohio Wrestling League “Wrestler of the Year” Award, and again qualified for the state tournament. He finished third that year. Dustin earned a wrestling scholarship to Ohio University. He is now self-employed and lives in Hawaii.
