Beaver Local Schools will be learning remotely when we return Monday January 4th. This will be through Friday January 15th. The district is not in session on Monday January 18th in observance of the Martin Luther King Holiday. We will return to in person learning on Tuesday January 19th.
This decision was reached based on the expected impact of the holidays on our community. We met Friday with the Columbiana County Health Department as we do each week and those discussions along with items coming from the governor's office indicate the impact will likely be much different than the Thanksgiving holiday. Health Experts have shared that the virus in relation to the holidays will have some degree of impact on our communities which also directly impacts the safety of our school communities. The degree of impact will depend on how much people limit holiday gatherings along with the amount of virus present entering the holiday season. We are all encouraged to limit our exposures and work to be smart when in any type of social setting.
We plan to return to in person learning on Tuesday January 19th. We feel this will offer the district an opportunity to safely reset and return to in person school. We will meet with the health department throughout break as we regularly do. District decisions center on the health and safety of our school community. These decisions are based on current daily data and the impact it is having on our school community. We regularly consult with the health department to get guidance on the impact of the virus as we recognize the importance of in person learning for the academic, emotional, and social support that it provides students.
We appreciate everyone's work and patience that has allowed us to maintain in person learning through the first several months of the 2020 school year.
Have a safe holiday season!
