Unity Week

This week at BLMS we celebrate Unity Week.  This week was planned around a nation wide event that will be held Wednesday, October 22nd called Unity Day. This event is part of the National Bullying Prevention Center's call to stop bullying in our schools and communities. "When we stand together, no one stands alone" is the message behind Unity Day.  We will all be wearing orange on Wednesday to symbolize our hope, support, and unity against bullying.

Our staff is also doing activities in their classrooms to show students:

  • We should celebrate our diversity
  • One kind word can change someone's day
  • You are not alone
  • We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided

Stay tuned for pictures from Unity Day!

Asset Survey for 7th Graders

In November, Beaver Local School District will conduct a very important study on the needs, attitudes, and behavior of our students in grades seven and ten.The survey is titled Search Institute Profiles of Students Life: Attitudes and Behaviors. It will provide our school and community with a wide range of information, such as how students spend their time, their perceptions of school and community life, and their participation in a wide range of risky behaviors. Most important, the survey will tell us the extent to which our students are experiencing developmental assets. Developmental assets are the “building blocks” of positive relationships, opportunities, skills and values that young people need to grow into healthy caring, and responsible adults. The survey results will help all of us as we seek to address the developmental needs of our youth, and will help us to develop programs, and staff development geared toward meeting student needs.

We will be sending home a form that parents are able to fill out if you would like your child to opt out of this survey.  Information from this survey is used to give us data for many local and state grants.  This information also helps us identify areas of need in the social/emotional development of our students.
