As a little girl, I had a map on my wall, a library in my room, and played school with my great-grandfather's old typewriter. As an adult, I majored in history at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, graduating summa cum laude in 1995. I then took a position as a sales manager at Sears, Roebuck, and Co. until my son was born in 2000. In 2001, I began to substitute teach, and realized that teaching was where I belonged. In the fall of 2002, I entered Mount Union College and earned a teaching license in 7-12 Integrated Social Studies. As part of my program, I student taught for Mr. Jerry Collins at BLMS. When I completed my license, I stayed on at BLMS as a substitute until 2007 when I was hired to teach French and Spanish classes to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.
In 2008, I moved to the fifth grade, teaching language arts and social studies. From 2010-2013, I taught only 5th grade language arts. This year, I will be teaching reading intervention to 5th and 6th grade students as well as teaching a writing class and technology classes. Along the way, I also earned a Master's degree in Education from the Franciscan University as well as a teaching license in grades 4-9 language arts and social studies and a license in K-12 reading.
On a personal note, my husband Eric and I celebrated our 16th anniversary in May. We have been blessed with two beautiful, healthy children: Carson (13) and Regan (3 - soon to be 4). We moved back to my hometown of Toronto where my husband teaches and is the head high school football coach. My son is entering 7th grade this year and plays football, basketball, and baseball. My daughter is going to pre-school this year and is very excited! When I am not at school, I can usually be found attending my son's or my husband's games. If I am lucky enough to be relaxing at home, I am probably reading, working on the computer, or watching NCIS or Bones. I also enjoy photography, scrapbooking, crafts of all kinds (including knitting and crocheting), and traveling with my family.

- My goal is to earn my doctorate in Education: Curriculum and Instruction. Then I would be Dr. D.R. Meek!
