The objectives of this course are to make you a more competent and effective writer, reader, and better critical thinker.  Along with the writing, we will be reading and discussing many thought-provoking texts.  In addition, we will be learning methods of planning, composing, and revising on the computer.  This course meets all standards in the State of Ohio Common Core.

 

You will be required to submit at least 20 pages or more of formal writing, along with informal writing assignments and a final portfolio.

 

 

In order to earn YSU credit, students are expected to attend at least 90% of all classes.  Only exception:  School-sanctioned activities.

    All assignments completed in this course must be the product of the student’s own thought and inquiry.  Plagiarism means presenting words, ideas, or information found in works written by others as if they are their own.  The penalty for plagiarism may range from NC on the assignment, an NC in the course, or disciplinary action by the university.  For more information, please see the YSU student code at www.ysu.edu/code.pdf.  Note:  Students are also bound by individual academic dishonest policies and penalties.
