week of Sept 23

This week we took notes on greetings and goodbyes and did a sample dialog between two people meeting each other.  We took notes about what to study for the first major test which will be on Thursday, the 26th.  See the notes pages to view those notes.  On Wed. we made up a story in Spanish, on Thurs. we're taking the test and on Friday I hope we will do an activity on the computer if the site is working, but if not, we will be learning about Hispanic Heritage Month, which is currently in progress.

week of Sept 16

We added the numbers 11-20 as well as the colors to our vocab lists.  We also collaborated to make up stories in small groups.  We read stories for homework and took a quiz over the class story from period 3 at "Morgan's house."

Today (hoy) we practiced counting aloud 0-10 and 10-0.  We also recited the alphabet.  Then we learned and spelled aloud the numbers 11-20.  See file on Spanish I homepage.  Then we reviewed the story about Jose's house and answered oral questions as a class and individually for an oral grade.  We took turns reading aloud a portion of that story to a neighbor.  Finally, we passed out tonight's homework, which is to simply read and understand the story for a brief reading comprehension quiz tomorrow in Spanish.  It will have questions such as "¿Qué?" (what?) and "¿Quién?" who.

Period 5 & 6 also took individual oral quizzes of the following conversational responses:

1. Buenos días/Buenas tardes, Señora Rhodes

2.  ¿Cómo te llamas?  (Yo) me llamo ___José.

3.  ¿Cómo estás?  (Yo estoy) bien. (así-así, mal, etc.)
