Ohio Achievement Assessments

All Middle School students will take the Reading test on Tuesday, April 24th.   On Thursday, April 25th we will be taking the Math test.  The following Tuesday, May 1st, the 5th and 8th graders will take the Science Test. We will be serving breakfast to all students on their testing days. It is important for students to be in school for the actual testing day.  Please attempt to schedule all appointments around these dates.

Attention 6th Grade Parents

The Ohio Department of Health recently revised the immunization requirements for students entering the seventh grade. You are required to show written proof of receiving a Tetnus/Pertussis booster (Tdap or Td booster) prior to entering the 7th grade. Please contact your health care provider or Columbiana County Health Department (330-424-0272) to schedule this vaccine.  Exemption to the new requirement can be obtained based on religious, philosophical, or medical reasons.  A parent or legal guardian must make a request in writing to obtain an exemption. All students must have this shot or file the exemption before entering the 7th grade.  According to the Ohio Revised Code, after the first two weeks of school, any student who has not provided this proof will not be permitted in school until they do so.

Parent Progress Book

https://parentaccess.access-k12.org

As many of you are aware, we offer a web-based program which enables parents to view their child’s grades from home.  We have changed our software for this school year and therefore, parents will have to use a new user name and password to access a similar service.  Our new program is called Parent Progress Book.  We believe you will find this program to be very helpful and user friendly.  We have sent a letter home to each parent with the information needed along with your user name and password. The link is listed above. We will also be available during parent teacher conferences to provide parents with assistance using this service. Please call the school if you have any difficulties accessing or using this site or if you did not receive your letter.

Tutoring

As the year progresses many students begin to struggle with their academic courses.  Be aware that we offering tutoring after school.  Typically, the need is in math, but we can provide tutoring in other areas if needed.  We currently offer math tutoring Monday through Thursday after school until 3:30.  There is nothing you need to do.  The students report to the assigned room and will need picked up at 3:30.  Please do not hesitate to call the school if you feel your child needs more academic support.
