Current student enrollment is 185 (including the MH district unit). Ten classroom teachers are on staff, along with a Learning Center Instructor and Title I teacher each day. A balanced literacy approach to language arts instruction begins with Building Blocks in kindergarten and progresses throughout the grade levels to immerse students in quality instruction in reading, writing, and grammar. The focus is on the five areas of reading instruction (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary development, and comprehension).
Technology is integrated into all areas of the curriculum. Students in each classroom, K-4, have access to five computers and become motivated to learn while using technology. Internet access, e-mail capabilities, and educational software provide a multitude of opportunities to learn as students explore, discover, and communicate as they use computers as a tool for learning. Students also have access to a computer lab for additional experiences with technology, including a Smart Board and ClassWorks upgrade.
Rogers Elementary is embracing a Beaver Local Schools district-wide endeavor. Building Assets Together (B.A.T.) strives, through a team approach, to help students develop strong assets to achieve success at school and in all aspects of their lives, focusing on: Responsibility, Respect, Caring, Trustworthiness, Fairness, and Carring.
